Healthy Diet

healthy food

The key to good nutrition is in a healthy and balanced diet that provides the right amount of carbohydrates, fats and proteins, as well as vitamins and minerals recommended. An ideal diet provides enough calories to meet energy needs, but not excessively, as this will cause weight gain. Simultaneously provides the right amount of fiber and water to keep the digestive system working effectively.

A balanced meal

By eating a variety of foods from each of the most important cover all nutritional needs. It should eat each day a different range of foods from the five major categories: bread, cereals and other grain-based products, fruit, vegetables, meat, poultry, fish, eggs and other vegetable protein sources such as beans, peas, nuts and seeds, and dairy products. Carbohydrates cover approximately 50 to 55% of energy needs, protein 15% and 30% fat, however, much of the western world’s population consume too much fat and eat a high proportion of carbohydrates in the form of refined sugar, which has no vitamins, minerals and fiber.

Decreased fat intake

By reducing fat intake also reduced the risk of heart disease. Whenever possible I try to eat unsaturated fats instead of saturated fat. The latter are found in red meat, milk, cheese, coconut oil and palm oil, butter and processed foods, increasing the blood cholesterol level, which, in turn, increases the accumulation of fat in the arteries. In contrast, unsaturated fats found in oily fish, chicken, nuts and many types of vegetable oil do not increase the cholesterol level, but even exert a protective effect on the heart and circulatory system.

Increase fiber intake

A healthy meal does not, precisely, a reduction in the amount of food. Foods with high fiber content, such as bread or brown rice, fresh fruit and vegetables, filled without too many calories to consume superfluous. In addition, these foods are a good source of vitamins and minerals, help prevent constipation and are useful in regulating the absorption of glucose and fatty acids in the digestive system.

Whenever you can, you should get your carbohydrates from foods naturally high in fiber and low in calories. It is recommended to minimize all sorts of cookies and candy, as their calories provide no other nutrients and also increase the risk for obesity and dental caries.
